Gobble...gobble...gobble...

I have been a slacker lately. I have made drafts to post, but somehow I have decided not to publish it. I lost the interest to do so, and now it's there lying untouched, unedited and incomplete. I was mostly bloghopping...reading and commenting. So many things on my mind it had overwhelmed me and I can't seem to focus on any of them.

It's now just a few days till Thanksgiving. I have thought of making a menu for my little get together with my, and my husband's, kin that I have lost touch with for quite sometime now. Were it not the invitation extended by my husband to his cousin, which we run into last month, I wouldn't have thought of doing this...the get together. Oh well, I guess, it's about time I dust my house - have a somewhat thorough cleaning; take my glasses from the cupboard; the dishes and linens which sat there unused for a while now.

Having a party takes a lot of effort...for me, that is. I have to do most everything - shopping, cooking, cleaning, setting the table and all that. Cooking is something I'm not fond of doing. Nope...it's not my cup of tea. Neither is cleaning. (Tamad talaga.) I, however, have to invite some people to have a little party, otherwise, I won't be asked to their own gathering. Hi hi hi.

I bought my turkey last Friday. I have to do it way early so I'd get the size I wanted. Last time I had turkey I waited till it was close to the day, and the small ones were all taken. I was forced to get a big bird, else I'd settle for ham. Thanksgiving doesn't seem to be Thanksgiving unless turkey is served.

I'm thawing it now in the refrigerator. It will take roughly 3 to 4 days to thaw. If it's not thawed by Wednesday night, I'd have to do it in cold water.

I hope it turns out good. If it burns, sorry, I'm not a good cook.

Thanksgiving is what is defined clearly by the word itself. There is no point in pulling the dictionary and defining it the way Mr. Webster did.

I am thankful for the good graces that me and my family have; for our good health; for being safe from harm (the recent wildfire); for having good neighbors, good friends and most of all good blogger friends, of course.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

It's the spirit and not the gobbles that counts Mari.... =D

Hi! It's good to be the first to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to my nice blog-mate. Thanks again for getting me into blogging. It's been a fun year. Wish I can "tikim" your turkey. Don't worry about roasting the perfect turkey. Like painting, it takes practice. Actually I find painting a turkey easier than baking it and doing all the trimmings. But you know what, I discovered that like a painting, you have to give your heart into creating this lovely "pabo." That's the secret, to make it really taste delicious.

MARIIIIII!!!! your turkey is burning! lol
I'm just the opposite, i love to entertain and i love to cook. now, whether my cooking tastes good or not, who cares right? it's the getting together with friends and family that counts.

ann,
Why not chicken?

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Mari said...

ebb,
Oops, sorry, Ann was the first at 1:29 AM. LOL You're welcome. I knew that you would enjoy blogging. It's better than printing them and handing copies to friends and family.

All I want is my turkey to be cooked...not half-done. I don't want my guests getting sick because of the food.

You mean you painted your turkey, not roast it? Just kidding.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Rhod.

mari ... may i?
ann - why turkey? to make a long story short, it has something to do with the pilgrims coming to america. they were not prepared for starvation, sickness and bad weather. the Indians (native americans) helped them and to show gratitude, they prepared a feast, since wild turkeys were more available then, it was the "main course" along with cranberry, squash, and corn. those are now the symbols of thanksgiving.

Mari said...

nini,
You still remember that. Let me know how it turned out.

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.

Mari said...

nance,
Sure you can...anytime.

razzy,
Gusto ko ring magluto ayoko lang ang paghahanda nito...like preparing everything to be cooked. And I don't like cleaning up either. ha ha ha

Thanks for dropping by.

Mari said...

pepe,
Okey lang.

Have a great weekend.

Mari said...

ghee,
The party was good. Everything went well. I just don't know if they liked the food...I didn't see my guests throwing up, or writhing in pain. LOL

Re: comments. I give them a couple of chance...then if there's no response still, I'm gone for good. I leave the high and the mighty alone. LOL

Thanks for dropping by.

hello mari,
i am happy reading your gobble...gobble....gobble....

yon na feel mo at gusto mo at hindi, ganoon din ako...esp this time,
thanks we have no more place for party or any gathering, egal family or with friends.

yes, i like it, pls, please not me who will prepared it....

the "before n after" the gatherings or parties....my god, better it will be held in the restaurant or any place, catering or anybody who do it....yon naka upo lang ako...
kaya lang, masayadong mahal ang bayad......the gift we recieved kulang pa pangbayad.....
kaya mas mabuti pa, if bdays or any anniversaries.....layas na lang ako....mean, to have vacation with the kids or with bernie alone.

sorry to say this, before we have extra room, while kim n sascha, kasama pa sila sa isang room, i can´t say NO.........and I do it cause i love it,. kahit na ako lang mag-isang gumawa.

starting kim n sascha used their own room, yon...naka alibay na ako.....

kaya ngayon, i don´t know how to cook maybe.....lazy to do everything.....

they say, when i don´t do some parties, nobody invited me ....for me, it´s ok, cause i dont like parties now......

if i like to eat anything or what, punta na lang ako sa rest. wala pang problima n trabaho......

siguro, at my age?...hay ayoko na rin ng magulo or maingay....

wine-drink glasses, my god, that´s a big job for me, esp if can´t put in the dishwasher maschine, i have to wash it, one by one and dry it----

we have to plan and do the works, right?

kasi very interestimg yon post mo......

thanks for the visit ha?.....i am happy of your visit to me always....

bye and have a blissful sunday.....

sigi, uwi na ako......tc

vk,

Thanks again.
