Welcome 2009!

I had planned this morning to wake up early and take a picture of the first sunrise of the year. I, however, overslept...as usual. I'm practicing my motto of: Late to bed, late to rise. LOL Well, as I said before, I'm not a morning person.

When I got out of bed, the sun was no longer peeking behind the hills and the trees. It was way up high already, glaring at me. I had breakfast at a little before 9:00 AM.

My first meal of the new year was a little bit heavy. I had an egg which was a little bit overdone; 2 mini bagels; 3 pieces of turkey bacon and a small chunk of gouda cheese; and coffee with cream.

I turned on the TV. The Rose Parade was already well underway. I watched some of it, and got some clips. Bear with the quality of the pictures, I am not a professional photographer. (Kuha lang ito sa tv habang nagpaparada sila...)

Everything on the floats were made of flowers, seeds, leaves, stalks and other parts of plants. Nothing was man-made except the float platforms, gadgetry and mechanisms.

The Rose Parade is held each year on the New Year's day. Read more and see more photos here.

Yawn...I'm off to bed...again.

Happy New Year to you too. I am not a morning person either so I quite understand about not being able to photograph the sunrise - LOL.

inaabangan mo ang first sunrise of the year? ako rin! kaso hindi maganda ang sunrise ngayong year kasi medyo masama ang panahon dito sa pinas. kala ko nai-zoom mo yung pagkuha ng pic pero kapag i-enlarge mo siya maganda. penge naman ng turkey bacon. hehehe.

happy new year!

Darn! I missed it again! This is the 2nd yr in a row that I missed to watch the parade. I was busy taking down my Christmas decorations and tree. I'm glad you took pictures, mari, i now at least have an idea how it went. It looks bigger and better! and oh...all those beautiful flowers, do you know what they will do with them after the parade? Thanks for sharing.

Happy New Year!!!

REDLAN,
Oo, inaabangan ko. Maaga lang masyado ang pagsikat ng araw, saka malamig pa. LOL Yung mga pic kinuha ko yun ng camera ko sa TV. He he he Okey naman ang labas nila. Kung di lang magalaw sila malinaw sana. I-email ko bacon sa iyo.

Nance,
I didn't get to see all of them. They have repeats of the parade the whole day...but got to do some chores. After the parade the floats are parked on a field to be viewed by the public, up close. They stay there for about 2 days and then they are dismantled. The flowers probably have wilted by the time the viewing has ended.

Reena,
Once in a while I make egg for breakfast; cereal or plain bread gets boring. LOL YEAH! I am, too, an architect. How about that? LOL

I used to watch this Rose Parade every year, but I miss it this year. :(
Thanks for the pictures,
Mari.
Have a prosperous, blessed and happy new year.

ev,
I don't have that kind of breakfast everyday. Too much work to make it. LOL There are times, though, I like to have sinangag, an egg, bacon or dilis...sarap.

The parade is really nice. I haven't gone to see it, though, it's only about 18 miles from my place. I can't stand the crowd, and I've to be there really early to get a good spot. I've gone once to see the floats after the parade.

Happy New Year to you, too...and thanks for the visit...again.

Dennis,
Happy New Year to you, too. And thanks for the visit.

Grace,
Ah, so, you're a regular!...except this year. LOL I like the DOO DAH (spelling?) parade. It's very informal...kinda like anything goes.

Happy New Year to you and your family.

Happy New Year!

It's difficult to be getting up very early to catch sunrise when you already sleep late at night. This is a common experience not only for you and me but to most people who are planning to take sunrise photos.
I would usually retire to bed early when I plan to take sunrise photos.

Anyhow, you've got different set of photos here. I like the last two photos...

Oh, my gosh, Sexy Mom, you work graveyard shift. LOL

Happy New Year to you and your family.

photo cache, may you have a prosperous, healthy, and happy New Year!

yes, niar, mother, I will try to learn to wake up early. LOL No, no more resolutions for me. I tend to break them...all of them.

Happy New Year to you!

Dodong,
Yeah, you're right, I have to get to bed early. It's just that I'm not a disciplined person.

I took all parade pictures on my TV that's why the quality were not good...except for the last 2.

Thanks for the visit.
